The government provides academies and schools with additional funding to help reduce inequalities and gaps in attainment between those students who are eligible for Pupil Premium funding and those who are not. This includes children eligible for free school meals, children who are looked after and children whose parents are in the armed forces.

The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011 and is allocated to schools to work with pupils who have registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years (known as Ever 6 FSM). The school can determine for itself how it spends its allocation according to the needs of the individual pupils. It is a requirement that a report is produced annually and available through the schools website.

The school is held to account for the spending of the pupil premium through the governing body of the school and through external agencies; such as Ofsted.
